Civil War Thread’s Interesting Comment by Mtnforge

Last week we had a good old time kicking around the notion and probable effects of a second Civil War in Civil War? If It Starts It Will Be Uglier Than Anyone Can Imagine. There were numerous excellent comments and a couple of virtual dustups, but that is just the way of these times. The comment below caught my eye.

Commenting on Civil War? If It Starts It Will Be Uglier Than Anyone Can Imagine mtnforge notes:

“I believe in the end America,  as people who believe in what we are as a Republic, in our basic decency, and our great prudence and tolerance, we prevail against evil. I think we surprise everyone, including our selves. We are made of better stuff than our enemies, and just because they have remained unaccountable and essentially untouchable does not make us weak or cowards, we are just people who want to live and let live at heart. Who isn’t like this reading these words?

That same dynamic doesn’t automatically confer on us an inability to fight, fight well, and win. Quite the contrary or I wasn’t born a natural Patriotic American.

And I can say this because I’m not the kind of guy who will let others die for my natural rights, my family, my tribe, my community and not my Republic, which still exists at the least in hearts, minds, preserved in history and documents. It does not stop existing because the Marxists say it doesn’t. Fuck. You.

I look around me and see many things, the 1st is within the sphere of my entire life I know not one single cultural marxist. Not one person who poo poo’s MAGA, or what Mr. Trump has accomplished and promises. There is no one I have even heard of who intends the destruction of America as we know it.

My wife who has a Faceborg page, she has one loony toons cousin who believes Obama should still be president. So in the entire range and scale of both our lives, there is one avowed dirty stinking commie.

I work in the coal mines. Coal mining has the most amazing grapevine imaginable. You find out everything. There are a few thousand coal miners across WV, we have CB radio’s in all surface equipment. There are truckers in and out of the coal load outs 24/7. We have company2-meter radios with a fantastic repeater system, in every Boss’s and Superintendent’s trucks, and usually in every raw and clean coal pile dozers and loaders.

So there’s always somebody with both radio’s to communicate with everyone. We even have underground radio systems now. The comm’s are like no other along with the HillBilly grapevine. Tramming out on the man trip or riding up the elevator, you get to hear and talk about everything, from home or the latest news, and in 10 years as a coal miner I have never heard of a single guy who was nothing but patriotic and God fearing, and that goes for all the people we all know and discuss outside the mining industry. Zilch. Big Fat Zero. There’s no cultural marxist, at least they ain’t letting on if there are in my AO and in the course of my daily affairs outside my AO.

Now granted WV has a population a little over a million. County I live in, larger than the state of Rhode Island, has 2,400 households. Where are all the fucking commies? Do they live in some isolated enclave? Concentrated in Urban hives? How much a figment of an illusion of power are they? Could they even be noticeable if they didn’t have a strangle hold on the fake media and pass their diktat thru every dishonest corrupt means while not having passed legislation honestly in 7 decades, or more, that gives them an appearance of this majority of the people?

I don’t buy into this civil war yet. No Sir. Not till it gets going if it does. I’m saying when the rubber meets the road and antifa our whatever paid goons try starting shit out in dirt people land where I live they are going to disappear never to be seen or heard from again. Only the tree’s will know where they are buried.

Will it get terrible, maybe, but I know no more or less than any of us here, except I know for certain, there ain’t any enemies where I and a lot of others live.

America ain’t a postage stamp country the size of Yugoslavia. Its one fuck of an expansive prosperous honest live and let live majority of people who have amazing tolerance and the gift of Prudence. We are apt to suffer assaults on our character, culture, race, and faith far more than any people on Earth. That in no way says we are easy targets or pushovers, that the dirty fucking stinking commies are gonna waltz into our towns and onto our farms and homesteads and have their genocide go their way. No spree bub. Not me. Not those I know, nor my community, ain’t gonna happen for our part.

And that is all I know 1st hand God’s honest truth. All the rest looks like unadulterated horse shit to me created by bullshit artists from another world.

And you can pass blame on the dirt people all you want, but it isn’t us who created the Bankster crime racket and the political class at the table of spoils, nor the fucking 1 world order crap, nor are we bigots or race prejudiced people, you can take all that and shove it up your arse.

In the end, as it always is, it is always and nobody else, the dirt people are who have ever effected positive change on this world. No one else. Dare you to name any others.

Hear, hear. I’m sick of hearing how scary pantyfa is. Frankly the other side has no numbers or battle worthy thugs.

Fine rant, brother. But here in Central Texas, Jesusland, I’m absolutely appalled at the number of my fellow citizens (spit) who are willing to put out a yard sign for that gun-grabbing, open borders socialist Robert “Beto” O’Rourke. That the race between him and righteous conservative Ted Cruz could even be considered close is a symptom of some serious sickness in our society. WTF are these people thinking ? I’m glad to hear WVA is still a bastion of traditional Americanism, but be aware that it’s slipping in places you’d least expect. War is coming sooner or later.

    Excellent comment/post!

I can report that I just returned from the belly of the beast, urban Colorado, and it seemed as though everyone I met expected everyone they met to be liberal. They speak as though their beliefs are without fault, and need no support in any way because…well, because…”shhhyeee’yeah!”

I kept my mouth shut, and made it clear that I was not going to engage in political discussion. A couple of different souls believe that we are in, or soon headed for, totalitarian takeover by Trump. I couldn’t get handle on why they felt that way. They were well up in arms (figuratively speaking) about Kavanaugh.

Tomorrow, I go back, deeper, into the belly. New York! If pressed, I might remark that Trump is a native New Yorker. I like watching heads explode.

Anywho. I get by on the presumption that no dialogue is possible with Lefty. His anger knows no bounds, his demeanor is shitty, and yet his logic is either secret knowledge, or else absent entirely.

That’s how it is here in Alabama (30 miles south of Birmingham). I’d have to go up around the University to find the Hillary/Obama crowd. But the people I meet every day are Real Americans.

I’m not seeing it much around here either, not in the immediate area. I don’t venture out much. But I do believe it’s out there, can feel it in me bones, just not close by. I have the impression the “angst” is primarily an issue with the younger set, because of how they were raised and what they’ve been exposed to, and filtering upwards into the realm of the remaining 60’s hippies and wanna-be’s. The younger one have the uncontrollable emotions and big yaps, and the older ones have learned over the decades to keep it shut until it’s safe to run it. All the rest are keeping it in check – not revealing which way they swing. If it goes hot though the pressure will cause all to reveal their true self, or dig deeper underground to escape.

The ones that are obvious now fall into 2 groups, the totally ignorant due to lack of a proper learning vehicle, and the deranged that have become convinced they are have been damaged some how by others and deserve better just because. Both groups will straighten up with the right “therapy”. Or dissipate.

Great comment by the coal guy. Fairly mixed bag here in Massachusetts. Mixed throughout my friends and even through my family. Cliche-like, my state trooper brother is conservative and my college prof brother is a big lefty. But I observe similarly to Casey that the leftists simply assume that one is of course also a lefty, because right thinking, it’s what we do. The leftists in my circles, though, seem mostly non violent. It was during the reign of Obama that all politics was swiped off the table with two lefties with whom I once could have some rollicking conversations, nay, arguments. The election of that unqualified symbol changed a lot of things around here.

  • sock_rat_eez October 11, 2018, 4:54 AM

Yeah, in a very agricultural red county in a red state, if I wanted to see an out-and-proud commie I’d have to drive 90-odd miles down to Madison … I know there must be some hillary voters around, but they are keeping it pretty quiet.

  • Steveaz October 11, 2018, 5:40 AM

Do not discount the foreign Putsch just because its domestic roots are shallow.

We are witnessing a foreign campaign that utilizes media to inflate the actual size of our domestic opponents. Most of us can see this.

But we are sadly outnumbered by our antagonists abroad and this fact alone should give your WV commentator pause, no matter what solidarity prevails among Appalachia’s hill people.

  • Flyover October 11, 2018, 5:50 AM

I live in a purple area of Indiana. We have some acreage in what used to be “country,” until a developer put in a subdivision for upper middle class, or for upper middle class wanna-be’s. I know of two families there that have portraits of Obama in their homes. Other neighbors are straight, God-fearing people who know how to grow their own food and harvest deer.

We also know people with a coddled soyboy living in their basement, watch cnn and lets yahoo news curate their news feed. Yeah, they hate POTUS, and think Justice K is “guilty as sin.”

Thankfully, our extended family are traditionalists, as we are. My biggest concerns for our place is the Maunder Minimum we’re entering, and civil unrest. We stay away from the big cities, and from large crowds (Ole Remus’s advice is sound).

  • Snakepit Kansas October 11, 2018, 6:22 AM

Most of my family is still in WVA. That is where I learned to handle firearms and have done a fair amount of hunting there. If some lib-weenie were to start a tussle there and he would end up under a log in some back hollow, never to be seen again.

  • JohnTyler October 11, 2018, 6:59 AM

The left’s presence in govt, in the financial system centered in and controlled from the big (leftist) cities, the media (where, unfortunately many folks hear the “news”) and their near total control of the internet, will all be utilized to shut down the ability of their hated enemies (that would be those who still believe in Constitution) to resist leftist “actions.”
Lefties will not march into W.Virginia or other rural towns or even smallish cities; they will literally shut them down financially and isolate them (from life’ essentials.).

Frankly, if the you know what hits the fan, we had best hope that the US Military mobilizes to eradicate, permanently, those elements who think the US Constitution needs to be re-written as a more modern version of Das Kapital.

    Funny but false.
    https://www.theonion.com/scientists-slowly-reintroducing-small-group-of-normal-1819578704
Mostly normals as far as the eye can see. Yet even in family there is the smattering of leftists. As previously noted, they are non-violent. Change academia and mass media and change them (tall order). They are malleable and want to be in with the in-crowd.

  • Wendell Wilkie October 11, 2018, 8:33 AM

Civil war seems to be talked about (in comment sections of right-leaning websites; i.e. I refuse to read the left-leaning ones) by people who have a low irritation threshold (disclaimer: I have a low irritation threshold but the solution to my irritation does not include social and economic chaos). I almost always laugh out loud when purported advocates of a Civil War are wetting their pants to inform other low irritation commenters about their persona arsenal, caliber preferences, military experience and advanced training, and all around grit, determination, and toughness. I’m sure those will hold up very well against the authorized forces of destruction as they hide behind their giant pickups or barbecues. So while I’m at it, those pickups, barbecues, TVs, and all the accouterments of prosperity and success that you now enjoy will disappear for a long time and your domestic sanctuary will look like something in Aleppo. In the meantime we still have functioning laws and electoral systems that actually work so just because you have a low irritation threshold don’t mistake that for a viable ideology.

  • azlibertarian October 11, 2018, 10:08 AM

I get it that there are parts of this country where opinion is rather one-sided, and you simply don’t see opinions other than your own. But with all due respect, if you’re not seeing the Commie’s or their influence, I wonder if you haven’t become the Right’s Pauline Kael.

Personally, I’ve got a daughter who is a straight-up Lefty, and her husband is a Bernie Sanders fellow traveler. I’m sad that my daughter sees life this way, but I love her none-the-less (and I’m looking forward to the day when, after much debate and hemming and hawing, she and the s-i-l allow me to teach their son to shoot). And more broadly here in Arizona, there is a race for the Senate seat being vacated by Jeff Flake between a decent military veteran and a woman who once described herself as a “Prada Socialist”. However, the Prada Socialist happens to be a fairly attractive blond woman in her 40’s who has spent her time in Congress impersonating a moderate Democrat. It is a mistake to think that Arizona is “Republican Red”. We are far more purple than people want to believe.

  • John The River October 11, 2018, 11:33 AM

In my part of Massachusetts the Diehl yard signs decorate a sizable percentage of front yards, there are no Warren yard signs. Very working middle class. Even the low cost or senior housing is mostly white.

In 2016 there were more Trump signs than Bernie!, just one Hillary sign. But what that proves I wonder since (according to the Town Clerk’s office) Hillary won the town. Of course the local town clerk is a Democrat and know for vote fraud shenanigans. Local (R) and (I) voters, myself included; get dropped from the voter rolls regularly. And deceased relatives keep popping up again to vote.

I love wearing my MAGA hat around town, I get more thumbs up or “Nice Hat” than silent sideways glances by a large ratio. Of course I don’t go into Boston or Cambridge any more.

It’s my observation and belief that the Left moves always to control the Town Clerk and Minister jobs, the school principals, the Head Librarian and the School Committee (all of it). The normals and the Republicans are your local bakery owners, repair shop and plumbers. The hardware store and the mechanic.
Pub owners seem split half and half.

If someone could push a button and ‘Clang!’, we all went to war in a Left against Right fight; even here in Blue, Blue Massachusetts I think Red would be on the flag of the big battalions.

I know a fair number of Trump haters, and a few self-described Marxists who have tried to explain the evils of Capitalism and the difference between socialism and communism to me, and how they’re both better than Capitalism, but I was just too dense to properly understand. Back during the previous Hitler’s administration (you know, Bush), on two separate occasions I was treated to long, angry, hysterical rants from people I knew on how Bush should be damned to eternal hellfire for his sins. Both times I held my laughter until they were out of sight. These days fewer of my leftie friends and associates will discuss politics with me. It’s just as well. When I hear them talk among each other I’m left wondering how they could be so politically stupid, especially at their age. And as much as they talk about resistance and hounding political opponents, the only people I know who own guns are on the right.

  • ghostsniper October 11, 2018, 2:20 PM

And here I am trapped in the middle with me.

I see the problems with both “sides”.

Maybe the “sides” themselves are the problem?

What if there were no sides, just one big field?

No left, no right, just a variety of people running for various positions.

Yes, ideologies would still exist, those that want big gov’t and those that want independence, but elimination of the 2 party system would eliminate people that go with the flow, or vote according to the party line.

With no club to belong to nobody would choose to be club members.

Like I said, I see problems with both sides and see no benefits with either side.

I see people trying to achieve or maintain that golden ring of politic and all that it bestows, mostly to the disadvantage of the citizens, and believe that when push comes to shove I will bayonet stab the face of anyone that comes to my property and forces the issue.

No one gets to steal 1 inch of my time, effort, or possessions and if they try they will be treated as a common thief.

Yes, I know about that parchment.

“It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

I grew up with the dirt people on a hard scrabble gram in Northern New York. Salt of the earth people. We had teachers in elementary school who led us not only in the Pledge but in singing Battle Hymn of the Republic. When I was in 5th grade a new young music teacher from Maryland arrived, she taught us to sing Dixie. There was no rivalry just mutual respect. Sad to say but both teachers would be out of work if not in jail today.
At 17 I left to work for Uncle Sam over the years, I served with at least one man from every state, territory, the Canal Zone, Colombia and several other countries. They shared much the same ethic and determination of the Coal Miner. As visits home began to get fewer, I noticed the new people were slightly different from the Northern Red Necks but it was not incomparable.
Then I went to a couple of universities. End of illusions, reality and hope that Coal Miner maintains.

I had to take the cat to the vet today, here in Brooklyn.
In the waiting room, there was an older woman, probably in her mid 70s, listening to National Public Radio.
So, right away I suspected she was leftish.
Then I noticed she was wearing red & white striped socks, and the toe area was blue with white stars!
Maybe she wasn’t leftish, maybe she was a patriotic American. Yeah, right on!
I was about to smile and say hello, when I realized that she only wore those socks so she could walk all over the flag all day long.
    eff her.

I live in Chicago. Growing up with the 1985 Bears, and knowing our Capone, Stockyards, etc. history, I always thought of it as The City of Big Shoulders. It’s not that anymore. Whites are 1/3 of the population and more than 1/2 are total liberals. The Hispanics are “big shouldered” in spirit, but they’re carved off by the Marxists and they remain a distinct non-assimilated group because they’re needed for the class and racial division the leftists foment. They named a public elementary school after Lorca here.

We will always have some whiners and deniers among us. Call them the MAMAGAGAs, the Make America Moan And Groan And Grovel Again types.
Let them revel in their rot; it’s all they’ve got.

  • Howard Nelson October 12, 2018, 6:56 PM

Be of good cheer. The swamp is being drained into the cavernous sewer and the sewage is being sent to the treatment plant for recovery of morality and sanity. We’ve turned the corner and are in an upward spiral; we’re out of the pox box, somewhat szzt-shocked but thereby smarter, more wary and toughened. We may lose a few points or rounds due to our or their foul play, but as infinite players we will win.
As Murgatroyd the anthropoid might grunt, regarding our dweller dung beetle opposition, “Fug ’em, and if not, let them self-fornicate.”

  • Howard Nelson October 13, 2018, 6:21 PM

gs, at 2:20PM, 10-11-18 has it in focus. Those who prefer to mind their own lives vs. those who prefer to bind and bleed other’s lives.
The binders are utopians willing to break the shells of the eggs (the lives of the ‘Deplorables’) to make their oracle-ordained omelets. These binder jerx are actually “phobophiles” loving to remain fearful of a
life of decency, honest effort, real worthwhileness and searching for the next group to blame and shame. Pathetic and bathetic in feigned sincerity of pouting, shouting and as louts, louting.

  • ghostsniper October 14, 2018, 9:44 AM

Jimi said, “Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.”, ghost said, “Everybody wants an omelet but nobody wants to break the eggs.” Everybody is hoping someone else will save their ass. Once the momentum starts everybody will try to jump onboard. But it takes that initial push to get started, and that is what’s lacking.

  • Haxo Angmark October 15, 2018, 4:49 PM

the current cultural, economic, and political crises will converge during the run-in to the 2020 election. I expect the (((Wall Street PTB))) to pull the rug out from under their own grand debtPonzi during a long weekend…maybe Labor Day in early September. By the following mid-week, the dollar and all dollar-denominated paper assets will vaporize, and both banks and grocery stores cleaned out. This followed by a short pause will people sort of look at one another. Then the killing will begin. And it’ll go on for a long, long time. Because there’s about 100 million warm-but-useless bodies in ‘Murka that desperately need killing.
