The mistake you might make in criticizing Twombly is in thinking that was all that came out of the era 1945-1975. You may hate the red ketchup one, but the point of the video is open your farking eyes, mate. The Egyptian art was shite, too, but you like it because of context and familiarity.

When I was in Washington DC (25 years ago) we went to the National Gallery. We were told to go to the East wing, where the modern art was. We encountered a green stripe on a canvas. We left the East wing, and spent the next several hours enjoying the Renaissance and Dutch masters.

At the center of that art barrage was Man: artist, clown, maniac, genius to the gullible.
Is the main pic, in swirling red, a representation of string theory melded into a mustard substrate?
Or is it a yellowish interposition or overlay on a reddish surface?
And if it makes no real difference, why the multi-million dollar deference? And if it does make a difference, real or unreal or both, what is it?
